This album has pictures of the retaining wall that I built out of stone picked out of our own yard. I didn’t have to buy a single rock. And this is no veneer. This wall is 22” wide and solid stone.  It took 2.5 summers to complete. When I started, I collected the rock and spread them out on the hill side. The neighbors thought I was a landscaping freak with no taste. It wasn’t until they started seeing it come together that they finally realized I was actually doing something tasteful. :)
